Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is a new modern airport which opened in 2020 to replace three smaller airports serving the capital. It is also known as Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt Airport in memory of the former German Chancellor, international statesman and Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Today it serves 158 destinations in 50 countries and is the third largest airport in Germany after Frankfurt and Munich welcoming around 25 million passengers each year. The airport is located on the south eastern edge of Eindhoven with good road access via the A13, A10 and A113 motorways as well as the 96a federal route.

From the Avis car park at Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt Airport to the centre of Berlin is a drive of 27.5km which will take around 45min depending on the time of day. Head north west from the airport and take the A113 following signs to the centre of the city.

It’s also a popular area for cyclists and hikers, because of Dubrower Berge – a pretty area of wooded hills nearby.

Dresden

Under a two-hour drive from Berlin Brandenburg Airport you’ll reach Dresden. This culturally rich city has plenty to see. Head to one of its main attractions, the Semperoper – an impressive opera house hosting world-class performances throughout the year. Another top attraction is the Zwinger – a magnificent Baroque palace with beautiful grounds. After a day seeing the sights, take a relaxing stroll along the river Elbe.

Templin

Step back in time and savour a taste of old Germany in Templin, where thermal baths, delightful buildings and spectacular scenery await. The area is surrounded by lakes (Fahrsee and Templiner are the two largest) and lush forests, so pop a picnic in the boot of your rental and make a day of it. This scenic destination is just a 90-minute drive from Berlin.
